Like many people, I struggle with my diet. I have decided to give myself a hard push in the right direction by going on a 21 day sugar/carb detox and will be documenting weekly my progress, mood,weight, and body composition. Let the torture begin lol.

My Story

My name is Noah and on May 18 2011, I had a rare reaction to a vaccine called VIVITROL and consequently spiraled into a major, agitated, suicidal depression with depersonalization. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who along with many siblings and friends had to watch me 24/7 as I was so suicidal. I was eventually hospitalized. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRI’s SNRI’s Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last year and 10 months, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and Pamelor.

I work out all the time as a part of my mental health recovery!!! Weight training and all kinds of cardio rule much of my free time!

I think any fruit ending with berry (e.g. strawberry, blueberry, raspberry)
is safe cos they are low in fructose.

I started my diet around october last year and now i am 37 pounds lighter,
went from 186 to 149, whit flexible dieting. i am around 11% bf and almost
have a six pack. I was very chubby and muscular just like you, but i am
shorter, makes me think you have a good 40 pounds to lose.

I lost 20 lbs in less than 2 months on a Keto diet. Shit will blow your
mind how fast weight comes off while sticking to your exercise routine. A
bit of a mental note for you and some personal experience from myself. I
kinda went really balls out when I did it and I was reducing my calorie
intake as well as carb intake (started about 2000 calories and dropped
about 100-200cal each week and started at 300g carbs and went down 50g each
week till i got to 50g, which was as low as i could go).

What ended up happening was my body started to go into a form of starvation
mode and my thyroid went out of whack and testosterone went way down from
say 350 my norm to about 150 and I was definitely affected in a lot of ways
by it and eventually got sick. So just a few thoughts for you and if you’d

from 227 to 202. I’m 16 years old 5 foot 7 inches! You inspire me to keep

drop some LBS; between the holidays and a new doctor testing transdermals
on me, I’m up about 15lbs. Back on injectibles and now about to start
focusing on diet again, and came across these two diets while researching
Mark Bell.

Do a video on people who sabatoge your diet, either knowingly or
unknowingly. I was always one of those who sabatoged my woman’s diets.
She’d be eating low calorie and healthy food, I would come in with In N Out
cheeseburgers, monster fries and a chocolate shake, then the next morning
I’d have the house smelling like bacon.

Yo Noah, I’ve recently cut out a lot of the sugar in my life. Trying to get
into shape for comp season :'( I’ve found that if I need some sweet or
sugary I make myself a nice black coffee (sometimes with a small bit of
milk) and put a fair about of cinnamon in it. I find that cuts the craving
down also caffeine to suppress the appetite.

Also make sure you’re getting enough Zinc and Magnesium as well. I’ve added
food with more of these minerals in and my energy has massive increased.
May help take your mind of sugar as you’ve already got the energy.

I’m going to try and do this alongside you for the next few weeks! I live

Sounds pretty paleo, brother. Thats the way to go. Have you also looked
into the ketogenic diet? Its great for taping into your bodys fat reserves.
Stay the course and the results will come pretty quickly. Thanks for

Believe it or not I went from a very fat 228 pounds caused by my last
episode of depression and continuous terrible comfort eating (was very
strong back then though) to a shredded 182 last summer and that was
toughhhh. Took a year of minimal sugar, one cheat meal/day every 2 weeks
and a 500 cal deficit from daily cardio. I miss that fire and motivation I
had in that period I was on top of the world… then dp/dr struck

Good luck on your detox brother! The sugar cravings are going to be so

Coconut water? Do you mean from an actual coconut or the prepackaged kind?
The bottled one’s have lots of added sugar and are REALLY watered down.
